A three-day festival of sport was organised by the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club, which commenced with a hill climb on Liberation Day Hill Climb at Bouley Bay and attracted 102 entrants.

Five records were broken at this event, including the fastest time overall by a motorbike.  Marc Le Sueur on his Honda 998cc machine has been banging on the door of the overall record, which was set in 1998 by Marcus Bisson and stood at 44.39.  Le Sueur lowered the record on his first run of the day to 44.29, and then on the third run of the day it was lowered to 44.09 seconds.  He also took honours in the 751cc to 1000cc class.

Lee Le Feuvre won the Paul Pearce Cup in the motorcycle class upto 250cc in a best time 46.50 with Justin Bush in second with a time of 47.15 seconds.

Le Feuvre was again in action in the 351cc to 500cc class, but this time had to settle for second place, with Bruce Dingle taking the quickest time in 44.93 seconds.

Greg Allen was fastest in the 501cc to 750cc class with a time of 46.70 seconds, while Peter Davies was the biggest bike on the hill on the 1300cc Hayabusa and he recorded a best time of 53.12 seconds.

Moving to four wheels, Nick Saunders broke the record in the racing car class upto 600cc and this record now stands at 44.68 seconds.  Richard Twinam was again the quickest in the 601cc to 1100cc class with a time of 44.87 seconds, while the time of 44.34 seconds was the best time set by Barry Eloie in the 1101cc to 16.00cc class.

Jeremy Phillips in the ‘beastie’ JPR was the fastest in the unlimited class with a time of 43.02 seconds, but his girlfriend, Christina Holley, who shares the car, was second with 44.53 seconds.

The Sport Libre class saw father and son Justin and Charlie Smith from Guernsey take the first two places in a best time of 43.44 second and 43.64 seconds respectively, but Clerk of the Course Terry Gorvel ran a top 20 at the end of the event, and on the very last run of the day Justin Smith broke his own record in this class by 2/ 100th of a second and this now stands at 41.89.

The Rally car class 1601cc to 2100cc was the biggest class and Kenny Cabral recorded a personal best in a time of 47.65 seconds to take a class win, while James Ollivro, who did not have a very good time at the Easter Hill Climb, was second in 49.24 seconds.

Adam Vautier in the turbo mini 1300cc took the honours in the Mod Prod Saloon class in a time of 51.37 seconds.

There were a large number of entries from the Kart Section and Anthony Wellesley was again in great form lowering his own record, which he set at Easter, to 42.79 seconds in the 125cc section. This time was recorded on his first run of the day.

Darryl Morris was fastest in the 100cc class in a time of 44.40 seconds while in the 125cc class Jo Davis had a best time of 47.08 seconds.

Nigel Davis in the 250cc class was the fastest man up the hill in a time of 40.83 seconds.
