"THE PROCESSES OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH"
An extract from An address by the celestial messenger
'Zodiac' (the unnamed scribe of the Bible and a teacher
in the Temple of Jerusalem at the time of Christ),
at Rickmansworth, Herts, on Sunday, 21st August, 1949
"...First of all, you discard the coarse vehicle of
the physical body which for a time acts as a temple
to the Holiness that is within. What will you feel
like without your body of flesh? It depends entirely
upon the life you have lived while you have been going
through the earthly experience. I want you to realise
that physical death is birth into another condition,
and it can represent a birth out of limitation, out
of sorrow and loss and pain, into strength and liberty
of action.
"The first thing you will notice as you are freed
from the physical body is that you have lost a sense
of weight, a sense of imprisonment, a sense of restriction
and limitation - that is from the physical standpoint.
You will touch yourself and feel strangely light, and
taste for the first time something of liberty, the
liberty of your new body.
"Then the next thing which will strike your consciousness
is this: that there is no such thing as death, that
you are surrounded by beauty in a slightly different
guise from that to which you have become accustomed
on the earth plane. For instance the colours of Nature
here
(earth plane)
in comparison with those in Spirit Life seem to be
dull and drab with very little of lustre or real colour
in them; and although you may thank God - and you should
thank God - for the beauty and the fragrance and the
colours of your earthly flowers, you will soon become
accustomed to something better.
"And you will find another thing which will fill
your hearts and minds with joy - that the flowers do
not fade, they sleep but they do not die. It is a wonderful
thought to be able to pass over a great field of flowers
of all sizes and all hues, and to realise that you
have not destroyed one of these tiny thoughts of God.
"Here you see on either side much carelessness
in regard to these forms of life, and seldom are there
those around to curb, to point out that every flower
is God's creation, and should have its chance to express
itself as the Father wills..."
