MATHENSON 1997-98 JERSEY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUES.

FIRST DIVISION

The first division has six teams - Pegasus, CCC 'A', CCC 'B', St Joseph's 'A', St Joseph's 'B' and Optimists. The Pegasus trio of Barry Wykes, Bruce Gallichan and Clive Hansford will be looking to make it five championships in a row - a considerable achievement. The main challengers will be CCC 'A' with Bob Vincent joining Eugene Ellis and Ian Lambert and Optimists who have Channel Island champion Frank Bougeard, Dave Hamon and Malcolm Queree.

SECOND DIVISION

The second division has seven teams - CCC 'A', CCC 'B', St Joseph's, Pegasus, St Marys, Police and Aquilla. Last years champions were Police, consisting of Jacques Callec, Barry Brueilly and Tony Cornic, and they look like the main contenders this year also. St Joseph's with Barry Meadowcroft, Paul Lakeman, Marcus Hawgood and Jim Brockbank to choose from should again provide a stiff challenge. St Marys father and son players Ken and Darren Le Brun could also effect the final outcome in the division.

THIRD DIVISION

The third division consists of nine teams, which include four from CCC and three from St Jospeh''. The teams are CCC 'A', CCC'B', CCC'C', CCC 'D', St Joseph's 'A', St Joseph's 'B', St Joseph's 'C', St Marys and Pegasus. In looking at the winners in this division the key question is can experience triumph over the talented youngsters. CCC 'A' provide the experience with Stan Perchard, Ann Norris and Linda Buesnel whilst juniors Lee Bradshaw and Trevor Lefebvre, last years 4th division champions, join Jonathon Fry in CCC 'C' team. Juniors Thomas Moyse and Daniel Smith, last years 5th division champions, join Lee Turner in CCC 'D' whilst the Gallichan brothers Alistair and Andrew, joined by Gerry Lang form a strong Pegasus team. It will be particularly interesting to see how Alistair gets on playing with 'long pimples'.

FOURTH DIVISION

The fourth division comprises of seven teams - CCC 'A', CCC 'B', St Joseph's 'A', St Joseph's 'B', Optimists, St Marys, d'Hautree. In this division its again a mixture of experience over youth. The Optimists pairing of Brian Nicolle and Brian Chilvers look the strongest in this division but juniors Paul Callec and Jacques Callec of CCC 'A' and Mikaela Kearns and Thomas Queree of St Joseph's will provide a good challenge. Aimee Moyse and Gemma Smith play their first league season for CCC 'B' and the experience will improve their game.
