The 80's The music indrustry realy sufferd a lot at the start of the 80's singles(45's) ans album sales sufferd in most western countries. Then along came the much needed boost the CD player Exclusic to Sony at first and in fact cd's still hold the Sony compact disc logo . The start of the 80's was my time it was the era i was brought up in and about 80% of my faviourte music is from that decade. It was the decade that saw Synth Pop hit home with great success hense the New Romantics scene from the early part of the 80's

The start of the decade started with Pink Floyd at number 1 with one of there rare singles "Another Brick In The Wall" was No1 for 5 weeks from the 15th of December. A few weeks earlier a more poignant song was to top the charts Buggles "Video Killed The Radio Star" was a sad reflection on how music was moving with image more important than sound

"The Reflex" was in the charts for 14 weeks peeked at number 1 and was there for 5 weeks in Jan '84 "AVeiw To Kill " was in the charts for 16 weeks but only got as high as number 2, in May '85

Duran Duran's best period was between May 82 and Nov 86 in this spell they had 10 top 10 hits 2 number 1's and 2 number 2's
